Hamish Anderson writes up the Vergelegen Mill Race in the Saturday Telegraph Magazine!
26.09.09 - Saturday Telegraph Magazine
This weekend's edition of the magazine featured a Nigel Slater recipe: roast beef with tomato gravy. To go with this dish, Hamish Anderson picked the 2006 Mill Race Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot from Vergelegen (Stellenbosch, South Africa).
"There are few better vehicles to highlight the qualities of a great red than roast beef. The added intensity that the tomatoes lend to the gravy leads me to a wine with the extra power provided by a hot climate. Vergelegen produces many of my favourite reds from the Cape and this complex, cedary bottle tastes like it costs significantly more."

Vergelegen Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Attractive dark ruby. The nose shows ripe berry, plum, chocolate and coffee flavours. There is also a hint of mint, spice and pencil shavings. The tannins are fine grained with great fruit-wood integration. Ideal with pasta, pizza, stews and premium red meat cuts.
