PLB appointed UK distributor for South Africa's Vergelegen..

Effective from April 1st 2009, PLB will look after the entire Vergelegen portfolio in the UK for both the Off and On-Trade - from the winery’s Premium Range, up to their icon Vergelegen “V”

Located approximately 6km from the Atlantic Ocean and in the Stellenbosch wine region, Vergelegen and its well-known winemaker, Andre Van Rensburg, have carved out a reputation over the last 15 years as a high quality producer, committed to environmental and sustainable practices. Voted South Africa’s top winery by readers of South Africa’s Wine Magazine for the past five years, Vergelegen is also the country’s first Biodiversity Wine Initiative Champion and recently implemented a ten year environmental plan to return the estate’s non-arable land to Cape fynbos - the largest private project of its kind.

“South Africa is performing very well in the UK as it is the fastest growing Top 10* country by volume and value, and we have a strong base in this category thanks to our long-standing relationship with Spier in Stellenbosch,” comments PLB’s Managing Director Peter Darbyshire. “Paragon has done a great job with Vergelegen, and we look forward to taking the brand to the next phase of its development. The wines are complementary to our Spier portfolio, giving us a very strong, premium South Africa proposition to offer customers.”

More news will follow soon, if you have any queries in the meantime, please contact your PLB sales representative. Look out for the Vergelegen wines to be featured on the PLB website shortly!
