Come and see PLB at the Wines from Spain Tasting....
PLB will be on stand number 43 at this year's Wines from Spain Tasting - Thursday 12 March at Old Billingsgate, 16 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6DX
PLB will be showing a new wine, a new range and its extensive portfolio of Spanish agencies - which now includes the recently-signed García Carrión - at this year’s generic tasting.
HIGHLIGHTS ON THE PLB STAND:
- NEW WINE Salduba Garnacha - this is a new wine from GVV in the Carinena DO which, explains PLB’s Spain Buyer Jon King, is created to have a modern style. “It’s a juicy, fruity, bouncy number,” he says, “that is not oaked so will appeal to the New World wine drinker more than most Spanish wines.” Salduba Garnacha 2007 is aimed at the UK Off-Trade with an RRP of £4.99.
- NEW RANGE Tiers Rioja - Tiers is a three-strong range designed to illustrate to Consumers the positive effects the pounds they spend on ‘add-ons’ - such as oak-ageing, old vines, hand-harvesting - will have on their palate. Labels on the Joven, Crianza and Riserva wines (RRP £4.99, £5.99 and £6.99 respectively) clearly communicate the differences between each level, and what these differences translate into in terms of taste profile.
- LATEST SIGNING García Carrión - a selection of wines from García Carrión’s portfolio will be shown at this year’s generic tasting including the Cristalino Cava Brut NV, aimed at the Off-Trade with an RRP of £4.99-£5.99. “This is an extremely exciting brand for us to be working with,” says King. “It’s brilliantly packaged, very well made and competitively priced - we think it could give some other well-known Cava brands out there a run for their money in 2009.”
PLB will also show the new premium, limited production ‘Monegrillo’ 2007 - a Shiraz Petit Verdot blend from the new Manchuela DO - alongside new vintages of the Finca Sobreño wines from Toro, Fuentespina from the Ribero del Duero, the Tapas trio and Precioso Rioja.
