Once again a simply fantastic result for Spier - Top achiever 2 years in a row!!
Spier Wine Estate received no less than five Double Gold medals for the Spier Creative Block 3 2008, Spier Creative Block 5 2007, Spier Private Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, Spier Private Collection Chardonnay 2008 and the Spier Private Collection Sauvignon Blanc 2009. The Spier Creative Block 2 2010 and Spier Private Collection Shiraz 2008 were awarded Gold, with 11 silver and 5 bronze awards.
Spier Creative Block 3
The wine shows fragrant aromas of violets, mulberry, sweet fruits, spice and toast. The rich and creamy palate delivers forward mulberry flavours with subtle vanilla and chocolate and a lingering aftertaste. Trellised, 11 year old vines planted on southwest facing slopes. Grapes were hand harvested from selected vineyard blocks. The juice fermented in stainless steel tanks and open oak barrels at 25 degrees for 7 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in 300 litre capacity oak barrels, 60% of which were new. Maturation occurred in French and American oak for 14-16 months.
