Sacred Hill Hawkes Bay Syrah on The Wine Gang

"This 2008 is new on the shelves, replacing the solid (88-point) 2007. From the Gimblett Gravels, a bit of a Syrah hotspot in New Zealand, it has a refined white pepper and slightly gamey, meaty edge to savoury black fruit. On the palate it retains a savoury bite; a lean and peppery edge to the fruit. It could perhaps do with a little more mid-palate fruit intensity, but it is food-friendly, medium-bodied and attractive stuff."
