Ochoa

The name Ochoa traces its wine making origins to the 14th century. In more modern times, Sr. Javier Ochoa has gained a reputation for being one of Spain’s best winemakers and oenologists. His daughter Adriana, a sixth generation Ochoa, works closely with Javier to combine the best of the family traditions with the latest winemaking techniques. His wife Marivi is the general manager and Beatriz, the youngest daughter is responsible for the marketing department.

At Bodegas Ochoa we are convinced that quality begins in the vineyard and that’s the reason why we only work with grapes grown in our own vine stocks, planted, pruned and harvested by us. We know our raw materials perfectly well, and we treat them very gently in order to guarantee their quality from the beginning.

The entire production of Bodegas Ochoa comes from our own vineyards (143 ha). The oldest vines are located just beside the new winery in Olite. In our new Finca El Bosque, in Traibuenas, we have planted selected clones of both traditional and new grape varieties. Traibuenas is a natural reserve, with clay and lime soil at an altitude of 400 metres. Facing south, the vines benefit from long hours of sunshine. This, together with the low rainfall, reduces the need for vine treatments which allows us to grow grapes organically.

Not in vain, in our family-run winery, we’ve been trying to transmit our daily hard work dedication to our wines for over 160 years. We believe that you need to know what you are drinking. This is why we have taken a further step in our commitment to quality.
